Terrorist attacks and wars have become serious threat to global security. We saw such dangers in the world’s history earlier. World’s authorities together or any country’s authorities cannot achieve much unless the people become unitedly involved against insecurity caused by either terrorism or war.
Insecurity, whatever way created, is like to provide impetus to dreadful snakes and other reptiles. Is it easy to bring peace while these heartless barbarians are being impetuous ? Might be difficult, but never impossible whatever impetus given to these.
Understanding the pros and cons of any problems results in friendship when working together to promote good and sacred deeds, from here peace is cherished. Peace results in co-existence, which means security of all – humans as well as their properties.
Peaceful co-existence is heaven on earth. And that’s the essence of today, which can be achieved by inculcating understanding, friendship and unity, which results in strength.
Born on 14 November 1469 in Talwandi, now in Pakistan, Guru Nanak was founder of Sikhism, the youngest religion on earth. Innocent people were being crushed and crucified by the authorities and the strong people when there was no law and order. But the voice of Guru Nanak was to strengthen peace, and of course HE voiced against the atrocities and stood for those who unnecessarily got curbed and were victims.
Contributions of Sikhs to fight against tyranny is very vital. Their simplicity in their daily way of life, devotion to duties, service to humanity, fight against tyranny all without expecting any rewards are their qualities. And I value these qualities as self-cherished keynotes to their masculine characters.
The world has been witnessing terrorism and wars, which result in the killing of innocent men, women and children. In the present age of modernisation, such acts are neither tolerable nor acceptable. The world saw last century in both World Wars how many Sikhs fought for and killed there. Yet they were extremely religious – fearful and determined to do justice for every one irrespective of caste, colour, creed or status. Honesty and sincerity brings justice, and that’s what Sikhs always believe in. Further to this we are witnessing Sikhs’ contribution towards service for humanity. Organising camps providing of free foods, shelter and other services not only in their country of origin, India, but also in different parts of the world where ever needed is their common regular activity.
The Sikhs have been appointed at very high posts in different countries, Defence Minister in Canada, very high ranks in military and para military forces in UK, Malaysia, Thailand etc. This speaks volume of the facts that their loyal sincerity has been recognised globally.
It is therefore strongly felt that there is a need of promoting worldwide the philosophy of Guru Nanak and Guru Gobind Singh, that we should live in a peaceful co-existence atmosphere without any hatred, but if all peaceful means to stop tyranny (like terrorism etc) have totally failed then raise of sword is just and pious. Sword only in battlefield and law in civil life.
Guru Nanak Worldwide will contribute to create awareness of the goods, as enshrined from the philosophy of Guru Nanak and Guru Gobind Singh for living of peaceful co-existence, which will make this world beautiful and comfortable to live in. We will achieve this by organising annual essay competitions on the relevant subjects, symposiums, inter-faith seminars and any other suitable events. We have already announced our 1st Annual Essay Competition
